For decades, research has been conducted into the psychological factors that distinguish people who commit serial murders from others. What motives are behind their offences? What can be done to prevent such offences? Although there has been great social and media interest in serial murders for decades, few people realise that serial murders have been on the decline internationally for many years. There are also scientifically sound explanations for this.
In her new lecture, criminal psychologist Lydia Benecke uses case studies to explain the current state of scientific knowledge on the subject of serial murder.
