Our origins lie in the heart of East Frisia - where people are simply friendly and direct in Low German. There's no "Sie" in this beautiful dialect - just a warm "Du".
We would also like to share this open and respectful approach with you.
Because we want everyone to feel welcome, seen and at home - from the first "Moin" to the last "Tschüss".
We, the team at the Upstalsboom Parkhotel in Emden, feel closely connected to the Frisian values of freedom, cohesion and cordiality.

The name Upstalsboomstands for what makes our hotel special: a place of encounter where people feel welcome, laugh together and learn from each other. Our team brings this idea to life - through genuine warmth, attentive service and a sincere interest in every guest.
This makes our hotel more than just a hotel: a place of togetherness where guests and hosts alike feel at home.
The Upstalsboom Parkhotel looks back on an eventful history. Opened in 1990, our hotel was built on a site that has been part of the town’s living history for centuries.
This was once the site of a medieval mill with a millrace on what was then the bank of the River Ems; the stones of the Kai-Müür-Brunnen fountain were uncovered during the construction work on the hotel’s foundations and originate from the quay wall of that time.
With the diversion of the river’s course, the site was put to new use: in the 19th century, a road and the first railway line with a station were built. Later, a water tower dominated the area for decades before it was demolished.
The history of our hotel finally began with the acquisition of the site by the W. H. Janssen Group. Today, in this special place, we combine tradition with modern comfort – characterised by warm hospitality and respect for the past.
